I had an unconventional Memorial Day, but a busy one. And fun, some of the time...
Anyway, we had a little trouble finding the grave, so Laura called her mom to ask where it was.
"It's the one with the flag on it."

Um, it's Memorial Day. So that doesn't narrow it down much.
But Laura-Rose's mom did give us directions from Laura's grandparents' graves (which had distinct pink flowers on them and thus, the graves were easy to find) and we eventually found Laura's uncle's grave.
It was a beautiful day, and so after the visit to the cemetery, we went to Bedford Boys Ranch for awhile and chillaxed in the pavilion.
A mother duck led her babies around nearby. I lurve leetle bebeh duckies and so had to get some video and photos of them. I haven't gotten my videos uploaded to YouTube yet, but you'll be one of the first to know when I do.
Now, I see ducklings quite a bit, but on Memorial Day, I got to see something I usually don't - juvenile Canada geese. They weren't little newblings like the baby ducks, but they were the equivalent of teenage Canadas.
They were so fuzzeh and kewt. I wanted to schnorgle them but I know that Canada geese (like all geese and swans) look beautiful but are, in reality, man-eating bite machines. OK, so they aren't man-eaters, but a parent goose will suck your brain out through your navel as soon as look at you if it thinks you're getting too close to its young.
Well, anyway, I got some great photos and videos. The folks at the next picnic table in the pavilion were having a cookout. They had a really cute little girl, about 2 years old, that kept saying hi to me and Laura-Rose, and when I say that she was cute, you know that it's a valid statement as I'm not one of those people that thinks every kid is cute. She kept pulling her clothes off, though, and her mom would always come up to her and say, "You don't show your business, mama! Don't be showing your business."
The folks having the cookout were listening to rap music and a song came on that threw out a few F-bombs and Laura, who is not a fan of rap, started freaking out and wanted to leave, so we called Naseem to see if she wanted to meet us at Chili's for a drink and lunch. I had a Blue Something-Or-Other margarita. It was good, not the best I've ever had, but good. It was certainly the prettiest margarita I've ever had.
Then we went for sno-cones at Bedford Snoball. Naseem and Laura-Rose had never been there before and so I had to take them there. Growing up, it was the place to get snocones. Every Bedford kid south of 121 knew it was good and it was within a safe walking distance in a residential area, so parents felt OK with us walking or biking over there.
Sure enough, the line was long and filled with teenagers and the occasional dad or mom bringing their kids there after a dip in the pool. I got a wild cherry snocone and Laura-Rose and Naseem both chose wedding cake flavor.
It felt like summer.
Partial desaturation FTW! I plan on adding this shot to my Zazzle shop.
So then the three of us tried to think of what to do next. We toyed with the idea of going to downtown Fort Worth and hanging out at Barnes and Noble or something, but I had no change left for the parking meter and they either had none or weren't willing to part with it.
So we chose the slightly less exciting location of the Hurst Barnes and Noble by Northeast Mall. We hung out there for a short while - I reading "Top 10 Lists for 2009" and occasionally sharing a factoid with them (did you know that of the 10 most obese countries of the world, the USA isn't even on the list? Did you know that China has the most athiests in the world?) and Naseem reading celebrity news and Laura-Rose reading up on fashion.
Then Naseem had made plans with another friend of hers and Betty was texting Laura, wanting to get together with us and talk. So I took Naseem back to her car and went to pick up Betty because she had no gas. (Guess she hadn't eaten any Taco Bell lately - *boom-tish* *groan*)
We went to Wendy's and hung out and Justin joined us later. We then went to Luna's house and picked her up and hung out with her for awhile, we had some stuff to talk about. That was the not-so-fun portion of the day, there's just been some drama going on lately and that night was when we sorted it all out between us. It's all good now, though, so I'll just leave it at that.
Busy day.
